Our newsletter includes reviews of books and articles relevant to play therapy, practical techniques and ideas for the playroom, as well as updates on upcoming events sponsored by IN-APT and national APT.

Benefits of being an APT Member:

1. Access to play-therapy-specific research and publications
Members receive Play Therapy Magazine and the International Journal of Play Therapy, along with other APT publications and resources. This is useful for staying current on research and having credible sources when explaining play therapy to parents, schools, physicians, and other professionals.

2. Continuing education
APT provides member access to online CE opportunities and discounts on conferences and other educational offerings, including 1 hour of FREE CE MONTHLY. The Indiana branch provides at least 6 hours of APT-approved play therapy CE annually.

3. Networking with other play therapists
This may be one of the more valuable benefits in practice. Members have access to Play Therapy Connection, an online professional community, as well as local branch networking, trainings, and events.

4. Your local APT branch membership is included
If you’re in a state with an APT chartered branch, your membership includes membership in that branch. Indiana is among its chartered branches.

5. Discounts on RPT credentialing
If you’re pursuing or maintaining an RPT, RPT-S, or SB-RPT, members receive discounted credentialing application/renewal fees.

And importantly, you don’t have to be an RPT to be an APT member. Membership indicates involvement/interest in the field; credentialing is a separate process demonstrating specific education, experience, and supervision.

6. Professional credibility and identity
Being an APT member gives you a legitimate professional association to point to when you’re educating the community about play therapy. APT’s stated mission includes promoting the value of play, play therapy, and credentialed play therapists.

7. Opportunities to become more involved in the field
APT has opportunities to volunteer, participate in branch activities, contribute to publications, and participate in leadership development.
