Indiana Association for Play Therapy

The purpose of INAPT shall be to advance the understanding and value of play therapy.

Welcome to Indiana APT!

Play Therapy is defined by APT as “the systematic use of a theoretical model to establish an interpersonal process wherein trained Play Therapists use the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development.”

Play Therapy has increasingly become the choice of treatment for children dealing with emotional and behavioral disorders. The understanding of play as the natural mode of communication and self-expression for children has become the norm. (Schaefer, 2008).
